2022 has been a fruitful year for BlueWise Marine, we have bolstered our team with 7 new recruits bringing a range of expertise and experience on board. This will provide our clients with access to enhanced skills and capabilities and support our continued growth as a company. With our expanded team, we will increase and improve our service offering in health and safety support services, marketing and communications, environmental planning, stakeholder engagement and project management. Continue reading to learn more about the new members of our team.

Our new Stakeholder and Environmental Planning Coordinator, Rebecca Kavanagh, joined the team with international experience in stakeholder engagement and environmental planning from both the public and private sectors. Rebecca has a background in Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy and has worked on numerous marine environment and renewable energy projects. Her experience enables us to further support our offshore renewable energy clients with successful delivery of stakeholder engagement, public consultation, environmental planning and consenting projects.

The addition of Sinéad Ní Fhártharta as the new Community Liaison Coordinator allows us to continue our support of the SmartBay Test Site and other client projects. Thanks to her extensive experience with events management and communications, Sinéad brings novel ideas and approaches to our stakeholder and community engagement projects, while strengthening our event management capacity at the same time.  Sinéad aims  to build respectful, long-term relationships with local communities by increasing their understanding and engagement with marine and offshore renewable energy projects.  The desired outcome from these efforts being that local communities start seeing our client’s projects as valuable resources. Sinéad is a native Irish speaker and speaks Spanish too.

Adrian Gannon, HSEQ Advisor, strengthens our HSEQ capacity, with over 20 years of experience in traditionally high-risk industries, including power stations, onshore and offshore oil and gas, electrical substations and data centres. Adrian has worked in Europe, Middle East and Southeast Asia. He has designed and maintained control systems for complete and complex operations covering substantial geographies and regulatory territories. He enjoys stakeholder engagement and makes sure that relevant inputs are considered at key project milestones.

We have also expanded our HSEQ team with Angela Shairp, an Associate who joined the team to provide HSEQ support.  Angela has extensive experience in HSEQ management in Ireland and abroad, including development and implementation of IMS (Integrated Management System)  in compliance with ISO International Standards for Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001:2018), Quality (ISO 9001:2015) and Environment (ISO 14001:2015).  Angela’s background in marine and maritime projects will ensure that our offshore renewable energy clients benefit from expert knowledge of the best practice in this sector as well as HSEQ standards and legislation.

Sarah O’Shea joined our team as a Project Administrator, boosting our capacity in project management. She has a background in project coordination roles in large engineering projects and a degree in Business and Management. She will assist in the overall administration of our project portfolio including European funded projects. Sarah has a keen interest in sustainable development and a love for the environment and outdoor activities. She will bring this enthusiasm into her role to ensure all the projects efficiently meet their requirements and deadlines.

Finally, we stepped up our capacity in communications and marketing by adding Kayleigh Laffey and Ekaterina Bessonova as Marketing Communications Specialists

Kayleigh Laffey brings over four years of marketing and communications experience, having previously worked in the safety and furniture industries. Kayleigh was one of the first graduates of the recently established Bachelor of Commerce (le Gaeilge) course from NUI Galway. She is specialised in the Irish language and in marketing but has a broad range of academic and professional experience in various topics, including HR, conflict management, business planning and IT. Aside from a keen interest in graphic design, Kayleigh has previously worked in Irish speaking environments, and hopes to continue engaging with the BlueWise Marine audiences in both the English and Irish language. Her experience enables BlueWise Marine to provide marketing and communications expertise to our client projects and enhance our service offering, while ensuring client satisfaction with all marketing and communication activities.

Ekaterina Bessonova is a communications professional specialising in sustainable development with over 10 years of experience. Ekaterina has always worked as part of international, cross-sector and interdisciplinary teams. She designed and implemented communications strategies for multi-stakeholder projects and initiatives concerned with climate policy and various aspects of sustainable development, including agriculture, health and resource management. In her approach to communication Ekaterina prioritises inclusion and engagement and takes inspiration from behavioural science and visual arts. Ekaterina holds MSc in Sustainable Development and BA in Political Science.

We are excited about the future and our growing team clearly reflects the ambition to be at the forefront of the sustainable Blue Economy.
