The Herring Spawning Technical Report, provided valuable insights into herring spawning in the area surrounding the proposed Oriel Windfarm, which was included in the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR).
Herring spawning grounds have been considered in the potential designation of marine protected areas (MPAs), and this technical report examined the location, extent and seasonality of herring (Clupea harengus) spawning in the vicinity of the proposed Oriel Windfarm project site and its associated cable route.
The scope of this project encompassed a comprehensive data collection effort, collaboration with scientific organizations, engagement with local herring fishers, and an exhaustive review of relevant literature and relevant studies.
